‘SAIL WITH THE PAINTBRUSH’ Interactive Quick Draw Paint-Out & Art Show
To Raise Funds for the Sailing Squadron on Wednesday, April 18th
Sarasota, FL – The public is invited to watch more than 20 local artists put paint to canvas at the “Sail with a Paintbrush” event on Wednesday, April 18th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, an interactive event featuring local artists and raising funds for the not-for-profit Sarasota Sailing Squadron’s youth sailing program.
The event is FREE to public with all the art created in the morning being offered for sale, starting in the afternoon, at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron, 1717 Ken Thompson Parkway, next to Ken Thompson Park on City Island.
Organized by the Renaissance School of Art, more than 20 participating artists, both professionals and talented amateurs, will each create a ‘quick draw’ (paintings created in less than two hours) starting promptly at 10:00 am. Completed, framed paintings will be ready just two hours later at 12:00 pm for judging by Vladisalv Yeliseyev, internationally renowned watercolor artist who currently resides in Sarasota.
At 1:00 pm there will be a brief awards ceremony with 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes and a Collector’s Choice Award presented to the winners. The public will be asked to vote for their favorite painting between 12:00 and 1:00 pm for the Collector’s Choice Award.
The sale to the public continues until 3:00 pm. Those attending will be able to view both the newly created (and still wet) paintings of the morning, as well an additional paintings offered by each artist for sale. A portion of the proceeds of all sales made will benefit the programs of the not-for-profit Sarasota Sailing Squadron, including the renowned Youth Sailing program.
During the event, donated paintings by members of SRQ Plein Air Painter group will be raffled. Raffle tickets can be purchased online at www.yeliseyevstudio.com or at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron office any time prior the event. Additionally, tickets for the raffle will be sold during the event.

About the Judge: Vladislav Yeliseyev (Vlad), founder of Renaissance School of Art, is an award winning watercolorist and architectural illustration professional who frequently takes top honors in national events such as Olmstead Plein Air Invitational, Forgotten Coast Plein Air Invitational, Easels In Frederick, Plein Air Easton, En Plein Air Texas, and other international watercolor competitions. Yeliseyev is a signature member of American Impressionist Society and National Watercolor Society. Vlad was a popular teacher at the Plein Air Convention and Expo sponsored by Plein Air Magazine. The SRQ Plein Air Painters is a group of professional and amateur painters from the community who meet twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays to paint in different locations along Florida’s West Coast. The Sarasota Sailing Squadron is a private, not-for-profit sailing club open to anyone interested in the sport of sailing and other non-motorized water sports. The Squadron encourages the sport of sailing and other water sports, promotes the science of seamanship and navigation, environmental awareness and instruction for adults and children.
