Please read important extras below. Jim McDermott suggested to have an atmosphere, in the studio, of what Sarasota was like in 1922 for the show. Some notes from Jim: “In 1922 radio stations were starting up all over the country. When I think of the roaring twenties, images of women dressed up as flappers surfaces and they all have cigarettes at the end of a long stem when the Charleston dance became popular. I have a 1924 Freshman Table Radio and plan to bring it to the show. That time period was the roaring 20’s when life was good prior to the big stock market crash in 1929. The Ringling Circus came to Sarasota in 1927. There is a great news article by Jeff LaHurd in Herald Tribune about the circus coming to Sarasota.”
If you have items from that time period, please consider bringing them to the studio for the show. Let us know some time ahead so we could reserve a space for your items and properly label it. Those items won’t be for sale.
Maybe we could have music from the twenties at the show?
Are there any musicians in our group?
We need volunteers: help with accepting and hanging the paintings, making labels and setting up the party reception and cleaning up. If you can contribute in any way, please contact me ASAP.
With any questions and ideas, please contact Marina Yeliseyev at Renaissance School of Art at 941-330-6865 or email@example.com
