Joanna Karpay, a Tampa native and award winning artist, has been painting since childhood. She began her studies as a child at the Tampa Art Institute and went on to study fine art at the University of South Florida and Highland College in Northern Illinois.
She has also studied with several noteworthy artists including Elin Pendleton, Deborah Paris, Marsha Savage and Greg Barnes.
Although well-known for her oil paintings, she is also proficient in pastels. The vibrant immediate color of pastels is a good match to Joanna’s signature loose style of painting. Pastels are perfectly suited for traveling and the practice of Plein Air painting, both favorite pastimes.
Currently, Joanna is serving as Vice President of Tampa Regional Artists, Old Hyde Park Art Center, Tampa
Her work can be found at The Island Gallery West, Anna Maria Island, FL and Art on First Gallery, St. Petersburg, FL and Art Uptown, Sarasota, FL.
